A Vision Realized: The Journey of ACT Buikwe

I stand proud to declare that Action for Community Transformation (ACT Buikwe) is the embodiment of a lifelong vision rooted in resilience, community, and empowerment. Founded in 2002 with the Buikwe Community Empowerment Center (BCEC), our journey began with grassroots agricultural projects designed to uplift local families and foster self-reliance. Today, ACT Buikwe addresses a range of critical needs, from holistic childcare and educational support to economic empowerment. With over 15 years as an educator at St. Mary’s Kitende Secondary School, I have dedicated my life to guiding Uganda’s youth and am honored to extend this impact through roles as a Reader for the Mandela Fellowship Program and a Leadership Ambassador with the Franklyn Institute of Leadership. My upcoming book, Healing Together, to be published by Butler Mountain Press in Summer 2025, will celebrate teachers’ stories and experiences, adding another layer to this mission.
